You need to take carb off and take it apart and see if the kit is installed. You could also see if they removed the fuel screw plug under carb back of float bowl. Of course to know if the parts are in the carb you would have had to have a stock carb apart before. Do you know what kit they installed?? Dyno jet, SE, thunder jet??
You could start by dropping the float bowl and see what jets are in there. Your factory manual will list the stock jet sizes on the first page of the carb section. And also like mentioned above, see if the concealment screw is removed too. That in itself will not tell if the kit was installed.
TCSTD,
I rejetted my carb as per the instructions. I went with a #48 pilot jet instead, SE Pro II's slip-ons, and a stock OEM replacement K&N filter. I'm extrememly happy! She is running much more responsive, no popping or backfiring. I'm wondering if it's even necessary to install a stage 1 kit at all. If it is, then I'm thinking about an Arlen Ness Big Sucker. What are your opinions or suggestions?
Don't mean to but in, but TCSTD gave you some great advice and I'm glad your re-jetting worked for you.
The Big Sucker is a good bet, as is the SE A/C (pretty much the same thing).
