I am really surprised at the quality of these pipes. I was expecting a lot more. They really seem CHEAP... The pipe itself doesnt look that well built, and the brackets are JUNK.... What the heck did I spend all this money on. They are the straights, no baffle, no crossover with the shorter fishtail tailpipes....
Anyone else have any input. They are on an 05 softail springer classic. I would like to rip them off and throw them out. What can I do... Any way to bring back the shine... What about longer heat shields. The main problem area is near the floorboard... This sucks.
HELP. Cost wise, you really cant get pipes rechromed. Would that be necxesary. They are only about 4 months old, with less than 500 miles...
I have the same pipes...read my post on them. I think they are junk also...thinking about putting my stock head pipes back on and just using the Samson tail pipes. The Samson head pipes on mine are dark purple but the heat shields are still chrome...for now anyway. https://www.hdforums.com/m_160926/tm.htm
SAMSON MAKES A GOOD LOOKING PIPE AND A GOOD SOUNDING PIPE. THAT IS WHAT SELLS THEM. THEIR QUALITY IS ABOUT AS LOW AS YOU CAN GO. THEY DISCOLOR AND THEY BREAK AND CRACK. YOU COULDNT GIVE ME A SAMSON. CYCLE SHACK MAKES A RELLY GOOD FISHTAIL SET UP. AND SO DOES KERKER AND HARLEY.
Well I did it ...I took the Samson duals off and went back to the stock head pipes with the Samson Silver Bullet Fish Tail Mufflers.
Got my bottom end back, bike runs better, smoother and I think it sounds much better. Also my head pipes are not glowin red now
like the Samsons were. I did notice that the stock pipes are alot thicker that the Samsons. Maybe I can sell them on ebay for enough money for a tank of gas if I am lucky[8D]

I'm a french flstsi 1997 owner and I'd like to change mufflers
What about your's. French saler told me samson exhaust may change of color, and it was poor quality?
If you had to, would you buy samson fish tail mufflers ?
I find those fishtail so nice !
thanks for your answer
do you have a photo of your mufflers as they are now ?

Do they have baffles ? or are shey Hollow ?
I agree with you guys. I just sold a pair of Samson fishtails. They looked good and sounded good, but I think they are terrible quality and they were nearly impossible to tune. I couldn't even get them to tune right with thundermonster baffles installed and several re-jets. Samson can have their cheap s**T. I am waiting on my vance and hines 2-1 Pro Pipe to come in. Sorry if I offended any Samson owners, by the way.
I like the Samson Mufflers, I just did not have any luck with the "Tru Duals".
And yes I have baffles, the Big City Thunder baffles... very LOUD but I like
the sound.
Here is a picture of my bike with them on, but I think I am going to try
the new BUB mufflers for the springer. http://bub.com/Motorcycles/Harley/So...1/R5-1021.html
That's odd...I've had Samson true duals on my Heritage Springer for almost 30,000 miles and the discoloring is about normal to what the factory pipes are, no problems with cracking and I check them every month.
