I'm in the market for a True Dual header only kit. I want to use my SE mufflers, but convert to true dual. I've seen several manufacturers of the conversion kits. Samson, Kuryakyn, Vance and Hines, Porker, BUB and Cobra to name the ones I've been eyeing. I see some kits have the right hand pipe completly straight and the others have a small "S" bend in it below the passenger pegs/footboards. Any reason for this? My wants are that the SE mufflers can be used, the factory mounting brackets are utilized since mine have been chromed and the heat shields on the headers will meet the heat shields on my SE mufflers correctly. My bike does not have O2 sensors either. I want a kit that is a perfect fit. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
I just ordered V&H True duals last week. I'll let you know how they fit etc. when I get them on. I've heard V&H makes them for python, porker adn some others. They were also the cheapest I found at $267.
If you haven't done so already, contact the manufacturers with your concerns, if for no other reason than what some forum member may consider "perfect" is NOT "perfect" for you.
V&H fit good and have full lenght shields. You can use any muffler.
+2. I'm running Rinehart slip-ons with V&H Dresser Duals. I wanted the Rinehart mufflers but I wanted to keep the head pipes smaller than what come with the Rinehart True Duals in an effort to keep a little more down low.
Have V&H's on my Ultra and Rineharts on a RK. The V&H are better IMHO due to the fact of the bend on the rear pipe. You can still get the primary cover off easily with the V&H but the rineharts are in the way and it looks as if the rear pipe will have to be pulled to get theprimary off. I had SE mufflers on the V&H for a while before changing them for rineharts so in my application the SE fit nicely.
