I just changed out my air box to a big sucker, and now the bike won't start.
I hear a high pitched whine when I turn the ignition, and when I press the the start button I hear a clacking sound with the tempo of a machine gun.
I thought possibly I had shorted a fuse due to not being able to retrieve the clip that holds the back of my tail light out of the assembly. I checked all the 15amp fuses and they look good.

A high pitch whine sounds like the starter pinion is not engaged. Are you sure the motor is turning over when you hit the start button? Even if it won't start, you should still feel air pumping out the pipes.
The rapid clicking sound is the solenoid trying to engage the starter. Be sure the battery is fully charged and the connections to the battery, solenoid, and ground are tight. As mentioned, the whine may be the starter pinion unable to engage.
