Is it normal, or just bad design by harley. I checked my air filter the other day and it was soaked with oil. I have a 02 Night Train Fuel Injected. When I looked harder it was evident that the oil had came in through a hose connected to the lower region of the back plate of where the air filter sitsroutes around and up to connect to another spot behind the air cleaner. I first wondered about it after a well known bike mechanic asked me why they ran that tube like that. hell I don't know. He told me it was stock but he never understood it. I think a option would be to get a crankcase breather kit. Any suggestions on the problem or breather kit would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
If you're getting more than just a mist of oil through the breathers on a mild to stock engine then you probably have a problem.
Usually it's piston ring blowby or oil pump not scavaging enough.
Thanks guys I appreciate the feedback. My vehicle speed sensor was bad a while back and it caused a few minor issues so maybe that caused the excessive oil. K&N on the way. Thanks again.
