While installing new pipes on my wife's Dyna. The two Oxygen sensor wires on the back cylinder became unplugged from the plug. Does it make a difference if the wires were crossed?
 \\;I looked very close to the wires and the connector on the other half and there is a wire that is stamped "amp" on one of the metal connectors and on the other half there is the connector that says amp on one side of it. I assumed they went together so that's what I did. The bike backfires bad on deceleration and After running the bike for a while ( 1/2 hour ) the engine light comes on and stays on.
I know that means a lean condition, but I'm thinking this could be because the wires are switched?????
I installed the same pipes on my Fatboy with no backfiring or any engine problems at all. My mechanic said NOT to do a Computer upgrade unless the bike doesn't run well.
One wire on th sensor is a ground and the other is the voltage signal wire so it does matter. If you had or know some one with a SERT you can hook it up to a computer and watch the 02 DATA in Date Mode....if there is no voltage on the rear sensor the wires are wrong, if there is a voltage reading it's ok.
The popping and back firing is a sign of improper VE tables in the ECM.....it needs to be tuned. \\;
The wires with the metal prongs attached pulled out of the connector.
I switched the wires yesterday and the bike runs awesome now. NO engine light and very LITTLE popping when decelerating.

so which color wire goes with each other? I have a similar problem.
I connected the pink/gray wire from the wire harness of the bike to the blue wire of the o2 sensor wires
and the black/gray wire from the wire harness of the bike to the gray wire of the o2 sensor wires.
Thanks
Did you find out what wires from the bike went to what color wires on the O2 sensor. I have the same issue. I was putting new pipes on and my stock ones got away from me and pulled them out of the plug.
on the o2 wires, a bias voltage is sent via the ho2 wire from the ecm and the sensor output returns to the ecm via the sensor return. the ecu uses these wires like a balance system as current can flow both ways, aka, rich in one direction and lean in the other and no flow being target.

Thank you for that info! Its all working correct again.
