I pinched my engine temp sensor wire while re-installing rocker (stupid, was rushing and it got caught around one of the push rods). It's not pinched 100% of the way through but pretty bad. 1) any way I can test if it still works? 2) anyone know the part number? I can't find it in the manual.
I did the same thing yesterday. The insulation was torn & one of the wires was pinched but not broken. I just took the sensor out, took the wires out of the connector & wrapped it in shrink tubing then wrap the whole thing in shrink tubing & reinstalled it.
Is this sensor a thermocouple? They depend on resistivity, so if you've severed one of the strands of wire the resistivity will have changed (gone up), which will read the wrong temperature.
If this sensor works some other away it shouldn't be a problem as long as the wire is transmitting electrons. Just repair the insulation with silicone tape or heat shrink.
