Default The simplest fix!

So I bought my bike with this problem, the engine light was on. Giving me a Engine Temp sensor code. I go to HD get the sensor, make my own socket and change it. Light is still on, so I test the wire at the ECM. Show's it's an broken wire somewhere (and I hate wiring). So I bust out the old Service Manual and start tearing it down where I can get to the wires. Well I notice that the color of the wire at the ECM is different than the wire off the sensor. So before I tear into her even more I start looking at all my schematics. Shows the color of the wire I'm looking at is a rear O2 sensor. So I look and sure enough they have the same plug! Swap plugs out, put the battery back in and BAM no more code.

You all have no idea how much I was racking my brain over this, and dreading pulling all those wires out. On the downside I didn't need to buy that sensor I replaced, on the up side it was such an easy fix!

Went for a little ride (10 mins maybe it was 40 degrees today) just to see how she ran now without it being pig rich. Holy **** it's a new bike

Wiring diagrams are very useful tools.

I bet there was a huge sigh of relief when you started it up and that light went off.

Sometimes I wish I would have bought a year newer model with EFI... but sometimes reading stuff like this with the wiring and sensors... maybe a carb ain't so bad ha ha.

I'm half-joking, I realize the EFI stuff is reliable.
