Looking to have my stock heads ported or buy the HD performance head.
Dealer will do all the mods I want and that includes the new heads for $2000.
A top notch independant motor shop will do the same mods, but would work
with my stock heads for $2800. My question is, which is better, reworked stock
heads or new SE heads? Also, HD can't give me gear driven cams.
I've already bought SE air kit, SERT, and S&S slip on mufflers.
Dealer and outside shop would be charging me labor to install
these items and do a dyno tune.
In addition, dealer will give me SE heads and HD cams. Around $1600 to $1700 total
Outside shop would give me Andrew driven cams and port my stock head. $2800 total
Dealer price is about $400 less than I stated in my first post, because I'd forgotten
I was buying pipes elsewhere.

I would port your stock heads, they can offer a few advantages over SE heads and can be done for less money ($299). Didn't mention if you were going to 95" at the same time. I would be much easier to answer your questions via phone. Feel free to call us at the number in my signature. We would be happy to answer any questions you have.
Sounds like porting the stock heads might be the way to go.
I live an hours drive south west of Kittery. How long a drive from there
to your shop in Agusta?
I 'am staying stock bore for now, but will probaly end up with 95" in time.
I'd like to be able to use the same heads at a later date,if I go to a 95".
If thats possible.
Just a suggestion here, that if you are planning a 95 and can swing it now somehow, you are almost there once the heads are off and would save you a good deal of labor unless you are doing it yourself.

We are about 90 minutes north of Kittery and not far off 95. I would suggest to call first and speak to Bean. He can answer all your questions and discuss all the options for your engine and costs. It is no problem using the heads on either a 88" or 95". Because we can keep the costs down, it makes it so you can got to 95" with ported heads for around the same cost as what others charge for just the heads. But we will work with what ever you choose.
