I cannot figure out what happened.... I took the tins off for painting. While I was doing that (2 and a half months), I decided to do some other things:
1. 2 into 1 exhaust
2. throttle cables
3. wash with Simple Green solution to reach the grime on the engine and frame.
When I put it back together, I noticed that it was hard to get the fuel assembly to seat right on the tank flange; I had to push it down a little to start the screws.
Now, when I start it, it fires right up and idles for about 30 seconds and then intermitently coughs fire into the throttle body and eventually dies. It also does not rev without belching.
I have checked for loose plug wires, and I think it is getting enough fuel. Is there any ideas?
Sounds like it's just getting enough fuel to run, but no extra. Maybe the line is pinched in the tank, cracked or whatever. Pressure test will tell the story immediately.

Downsmith,
The pump plate needing to be pushed down to seat is normal. Broken injector wires are common on 02's.They break right at the injector plug.Look carefully...most of the time they look ok but are not.You may have hit one of the wires while changing cables and caused it to act up. I have also seen those plugs not properly seated on the injector and some times they pop off. The other thing I would check,if you don't have access to a fuel pressure gauge are the hoses inside the tank. I have seen both of the hoses inside the tank wear thru and cause similar conditions. It will be very hard to see the holes in the fuel tank lines if they are ruptured.Look carefully.

Thanks! I did look yesterday and by accident found the hose that connects to the checkvalve had a hole. But to my dismay, that was not the fix for the problem.....
