Default 95" less then expected

I had the 95" kit with the 204 cams installed on my 05 88B softail. The difference was not as noticeable as I hoped for. It seems that when I get on it, it does not really rev up as much as other HD's I ride with, kind of like it starts to take off fine but levels off in each gear. This is when the other bikes I ride with will continue to build torque. It has the SERT and V&H true duals. My question is will a DYNO help? I am sure the dealer used a HD download. I have around 1200 miles on the build and I was very careful on the break in as instructed for the first 600 miles. I am hoping a DYNO can set it up for more preformance? Also, the only DYNO service I have found says 7-8 hrs for a SERT, is this about right? If so, will it help me? If not what will? Thanks

What pistons did you use? Do you still have stock heads? The ultimate answer to your question it YES you will need to have it Dyno tuned to get the maximum out of the build. Someone that knows how to tune with the SERT shouldn't take 7-8 hours. I would ask around and find someone that REALLY knows how to tune with the SERT.

Thanks for the quick reply. The stock heads and pistons are still at the dealer waiting for me to pick up. As far as what pistons, I feel embarassed to tell you I just had the dealer use whatever is standard with the 95" Kit. All the asked me was which cams and after a short discussion, 204's seemed like the best choice for my riding style. What exactly will the DYNO do that over rides the dealer HD download? I will look for another DYNO shop. How long should it take and what is a fair price? Thanks again.

That doesn't tell me a lot. What heads do you have on your bike now? You should find out what pistons they put in also. The dyno tune will tune your bike. A canned download is generic and every bike is different, so dyno tuning will do a better job. Choice of parts is important also.

The dyno tune is a must, as springer stated. If you are using the stock heads, and a 204 cam, and what else??? More info would be of help. A SE dealer build on a 95 inch with cams only and a plug and play map without tuning will net you approx 75hp and 80-85 tq. Tuned you can improve upon that.

OK, here is the current build.
95" kit
Flat top pistons
Stock heads.
204 cams
SERT
V&H Duals
HD Download

This is what they told me. Now the question I have is can I expect enough out of a DYNO to justify the $350.00. Would I gain just a few horses or would I see a significant increase? Hope this is enough info. Thanks

Now use a 2-1 exhaust, get it retuned and I think you will enjoy the new 95 kit. When I was running the V&H true duals w/ovals, I had a flat spot also (stock motor). When I changed to a V&H Propipe the difference was night and day (stock motor).

A 2 into 1 will perform much better than Big Shots. ProPipe is good... D&D FatCat, White Bros E-Series (if you can find one), ThunderHeader, Bassani, RC (something - posted nearby) will all perform better.
