Default exhaust gaskets

ok, i got to the dealer today to get new exhaust gaskets. he hands me a set of gaskets and i tell him they look different than the ones i have on the bike, he says they do but these are the good ones. i tell him the old ones are a flat mesh looking gasket and he continues, these are better they will never leak. anyway i get home and the pipes wont even fit in them! the new gaskets look like a graphite color and they are tapered, which i believe are stock gaskets. so my question is will these work? are they supposed to spread and let the pipe slide in the tapered part or what! i have vance and hines short shots on the bike!! thanks!

the tapered gaskets seal better than the flat se style. I've never had any trouble with them

you put them in the exhaust port (flat side first) they are a bitch to get in but if you are carefull you can get them in. The exhaust then squishes up against the tapered edge and forms a nice seal.

Yes, they are the good ones. And be careful and patient putting them in. Basically indestructable once installed properly, but you can mess them up if you try to push them in with a screwdriver or the like....

And remember not to over torque them. Cause if you do, you will crush them and push them in wards. Partly obstructing the exhaust ports.
