Me thinks the first post was refering to Torque measured on engine dyno. The post before mine was refering to Torque at the rear wheel measured on chassis dyno.
Street Glide was right about that. H-D has stooped to putting specs in the manual and advertising that have nothing to do with the performance. This tactic is employed by competitors so I guess it is to be expected. Its a shame.

All manufacturers be it cars or bikes advertise power at the crank and not power at the rear wheels. Your buddy's crappy old fox body 94 mustang doesn't put all 210 hp to the real wheels. It puts about 155. Harley advertises 85 torque at the crank just like everybody else.
