Purchased the Bub Sleeper pipes, too loud for me. Changed to the smaller 1 1/4" stealth baffles. It does quiet it down somewhat at idle and has a nice sound while crusing and is loud when accelerating. The change is a real pain. The end caps and baffles have to be beat out with a rubber hammer turning and hitting at an angle to remove them. Make sure they are off the bike. You won't be able to do it with the pipes on the bike.
I also tried wraping the standard 1 1/2" baffles with fiberglass and securing with stainless aviation wire. Had a very nice sound for about 2-3 hundred miles then the fiberglass started blowing out. Re packed and they did the same thing.
Don't know where they get stealth from. The pipes are loud no matter what you do to them.
I think I am just going to go with the Harley touring pipes and be done with it, at least I will be able to hear the radio and intercom while crusing.
I have the Bub Sleepers and SEII pipes If anyone is interested. They are for an 05 Ultra.
were did you get the differant baffles, and do you have information on them. are the instructions on changing the baffles is to beat um out. oh yeah how much did they cost and where did you get um.thanks in advance.
You can order from Bub directly. 800-934-9739. Jenna in sales will help you. Cost is $89.95 for the smaller 1-1/2" "stealth" baffles. The standard baffle in the sleepers is the 1-3/4". They make a larger 2" for the "bigbore" bikes.
Getting the old baffles out and new baffles back in place is a real pain. The end cap and the baffle is a very tight fit. You will need a big rubber hammer!
I think I heard a pair of sleepers, they did seem kinda lound.Do you know whats the model number of the Harlely slip ons you want to get.BTW thanks for the reply.
