Hi, all. Currently have an 03' Dyna with tensioners, and considering changing out to the new screamin eagle plate and pump, that uses oil pressure on the shoes vs those spring tensioners. Wondering if I can use a set of se 204 cams I have new in a box I'm planning on using, or will I have to buy new cams that work on the new style cam plate set-up.
Great question - I'm considering the SE conversion kit, too, for my 04 FLHRS. Also wondering if anyone has any experience with this kit at all - did you install it yourself? How easy/hard was it? Did someone else do it? How many hours did you get charged for it? What other parts did you need (besides the spacer kit, which the catalog already points you to).
Thanks for any info - (was going to start a new thread on this but found this one - close enough).
If I read right somewhere I dont think my se204's (old style) will work in the new hyd. cam plate/tensioner set-up. Think I'm just going to go a different direction and get the Woods tw-6r cams, they will work in the new design. From what I read on this forum and what I'm looking for, should suit me perfect.
Check the diminsions for the inner bearings and the outer bearings with the new cam plate. For the pre 07's, (06 dayns). There are some differences, make sure the cams will work fore you buy the cam.
Otherwise the SE Cam plates look real good.

Dont think the 204's for an 04 will work in the newer cam plate. The newer cam plate does not use outer bearings, it is sleeved. Inner bearings are the same.
Kuma, so it sounds like the cams on the outter are a different dimention then, but if I purchased new b-148 torrington's for the inner's i should be ok using them with conversion cams such as the wood's tw6-r cams????? Well then, looks like I now have a set of se 204's up so sale then LOL. Thanks for the info Kuma
go with the woods(or any aftermarket cams)that offer a gear drive version, and go with a gear drive set up,i think the new hyd. tensioners will eventually have the same probs as the spring type tensioners
