I do understand what you were trying to communicate and that is why I indicated that I thought you were partially correct. If the quench is to big, then yes, you are fully correct and the head gaskets will make a difference. If quench is already at .030 with stok HD gaskets, then going thinnner will cause issues. Sometimes though people just go and make changes without doing all the measurements and checking required. Especially if they have already done some modifications. Some pistons stand proud of the cyls, others short, so I never make a blanket statement that changing head gaskets will improve performance, it depends on a lot of things.
