I have a 1989 FLHTP (Police) Electra Glide. I am presently waiting for a fartory rebuilt engine. I'll be keeping the same setup I have now. That"ll includes the S&S super E carb., the Screaming Eagle Ignition System, the K&N Air Fliter, and the Anders EV 27 cam (new). I've been getting 38 MPG and the power is very good and low and mid range. The last owner puched out the OEM mufflers. What replacements should I get to give me better tone (deep & agressive) and inprove the performance of the bike.

If you want slip-ons, then the Cycle Shack ones are about the best bet for your money. They sound awesome, maintain good low and mid range torque, and are also very inexpensive. Very good quality, too.
If you have more to spend, consider a 2-1 system like the Pro-Pipe. It offers excellent "streetable" torque and sound great.... mellow when cruising, and get pretty loud when cranking on it. I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about them. It's the only exhaust I will use when I build a new engine.
Khrome Werks slipons work the best in the low to mid range RPM.
I changed to these on my old Iron Head Sporty, It was nite and day.
It ran cooler, no flat spot in mid range and plugs burned gray.
Look at the baffel design, there is nothing like it.
Well gang my local dealer said the engine is out and the new HD remanufactured might be in and installed in 10 days. I ended up going with Samson Silver Bullets turn outs. I'll let you know how they work out.
Boy howdy--arent you gonna get some opinions here! My opinion is thunderheaders for A DEEP sound with losta top eng power or vance & hines ovals for good all around power & sound--I modified my ovals for more noise---.....GOODLUCK
