Taking the bike in on tuesday for a build here is what i'm doing
-255
-High comp pistons 10.5
-New jugs
-JR racing heads
And a few other things to compliment the ride, now my question is for this cam, is 10.5 too much? I have read a lot of posts and i don't see others with this combo (10.5 -255). My builder says it will work great with a good tune.
Thanx in advance
From what I have read on these boards that may be too much. I wouldn't go over 10.0 with the sorry gas we have now days.
I have the SE 255 in my stock 96 and like it a lot.

Yeah, 10.5 would be a bit high because the intake closes 9 degrees sooner than the SE203 cam. I've seen bikes with 10.5:1 running 203's. You could get away with this but it would be risky without running your squish on the low end of the safe zone and 92+ octane gas. Heat would be an issue possibly too. However the torque might be a lot of fun! It would run pretty good in cooler weather.
On a 96 with slip ons, stage 1 and SE air cleaner the estimates for HP on this forum have been 77 hp.
Let's say this is accurate.
Now, lets say we're gonna do HD cams only ...starting from the mildest cam and going up to the largest cam feasible for a cam only upgrade. What would the corresponding HP increases be for those different cam?
Also, what would be the number of work hours involved and prices for the work at the dealer and at a really good indy be?
Waiting to be used. If you are looking for a good price PM me. I liked them when they were installed in my Ultra. I'm sure you will like them in your RG.
