Hey I have an 06 FLHRC which has 95" cylinders with high compressin pistons (done about 3 years ago). Recently one of the head bolts spun loose. I re-torqued it but now it becomes loose within a mile or so of riding. Is this the stud which is backing out?
Thanks!!!
How many answers can there be to putting a nut on a bolt coming loose.....
The obvious;"It needs attention " doesn't offer much assistance..
Maybe stud or maybe re-tighten to torque spec. when cold....
I'm not an expert, but then the expert wasn't any help either.

Stud backing out... Could be the stud pulled the threads in the case....
No matter what, the top-end has to come apart.... There is NO EASY FIX, other than removing the head and cylinder and establishing what failed....

Thanks, I appreciate the help. This happened at the end of the season here in chicago so i haven't ridden since, I'm just trying to figure out wether I should try it myself or bring in to a shop......
In order to witness what is occuring, you'll need to pull the head, at the very minumum, and chances are, the cylinder as well.
This is a VERY ODD situation, as we have NEVER had this happen.
With a Cometic cylinder head gasket, the torque spec on that boils down to 42 ft/lbs. MIGHTY tight at that point. They literally have a sharp "pop" when removing them.
As I had said, you need to address that immediately, as the "set-in-stone" answer is not evident.

I would almost bet the threads are pulling out of the case. Each heat cycle will cause more pull on them then what they are torqued to and when cold the nut will be loose after the stud has been pulled upward.
