Default New Cams - Excessive TICK

Hi guys

This is my first post and I must say I have read much of the good information of these forums and THANKS,

Anyways to my problem. Just did a cam swap in my 02 Fatboy 1450. I put in a set of andrews 37B cams. Thanks to all the information on this site I was able do it myself with no problems. However, Ive gone for a few short rides and I develop a loud tick after it warms up a little. My dealer mech (buddy of mine and only over the phone) says that its most likely just new noise because of the lift of the cams - which I would agree for the most part. Thing is it seems to be coming for only only rod/lifter in particular. I checked the adustment on my SE adjustable push rod and everything seems great. The thing that bothers me is that if i feel the tubes of the other pushrods i feel nothing. In this one I can feel the vibration coresponding with the tick (even at idle). Any ideas? or comforting information? THanks

Did you install the newer tapered adj rods or older style? Have read that some times the older style adj's rub on the top part of the tube. Easy fix though, just file the top lip on the inner part of the tube.

Im not sure if they are the new or old style. I ordered the ones with the complete tubes so that I would have more space to adjust them. It is something I will look into tho. Thx. Also another note. The motor only has 10k miles.

Yesp,

I you have the standard HD adjustables, they are large eough in diameter to contact the inside of the pushrod tubes if the rocker box isn't exactly centered..

Pull the offending pushrod and tube. If it is rubbing you will see the marking on the top of the pushrod about 2" down from the top. Look inside the pushrod tube, you will see the spot that needs clearanced, take a rat-tail file and clearance it - careful, you can clearance it too much and end up with a leak.
