I have a solution for you. Just bring the dealer your ecm (assuming you have a cool dealer) and have them plug it into another bike for the re-flash. That works and you don't need to buy or build another air filter.
Why do you want to go with a stock filter????? The K&N filters are far better and will last a lifetime if maintained. Besides, you must tune it to the filter/exhaust that you will actually be using or it won't run right. Having a different air filter will NOT void your warranty, if that's what they are b1tching about.
First, try to find another dealership, if there is one in your area. Second, it's your bike that YOU paid for, so it's their job to do what you want done to it. If not, tell them you will report them to the BBB and the Attorney General's office. Better yet.....
Take your bike to a REAL Harley performance shop that has actual experience tuning Harleys (usually NOT the stealership) and have them dyno tune it. It'll usually cost a lot less than having the bozos at the stealership do it, too.
i need the stocker because i cant use the after market to ride to the dealer with it will be way too lean my stock filter is screwed up so i am not using the bike at this time .. i need the stock filter to run 30 miles to the dealer for the download i dont want to run the K&N filter that far with no down load
1) make sure you are getting a race download
2) If you are only changing the air cleaner and pipes just ride over there, if it's only 30 miles you'll be fine especially if you have a 2006 Dyna because the 02 sensors will correct while you drive. THe download will fix the acceleration areas that ignore the o2's.
I agree. 30 miles or so won't hurt anything. If all you changed was the filter itself, then you may not need to do anything at all to it. Just check your plugs, if they look ok, then there's no need to get a new MAP. If you changed other things, like the air cleaner and/or pipes, then you will. The K&N flows more air, but I doubt it will make such a difference in the AFR that the computer wouldn't be able to compensate for it.
