BTW - no shortage of opinions here!

it is the best performance header you can buy for the hd .
If you do some research and compare torque curves of various pipes on the same or similar builds, it will become immediately obvious that the THunderHeader has a huge dip "down low". I had that same exact expereince on mine.
When I started building my current RG, I chose a ThunderHeader becasue is was the only 2into1 I could buy (from the manufacturer) that was ceramic coated black. I must admit that the sound was GREAT, but the power was mediocre and matched others I had/have seen on dyno comparisons. Sometime later, D&D released a black version of the FatCat which is what I really wanted anyway, as I had one on my previous RG, but did not want chrome this time.
It is true that everyone has their favorites, for a variety of reasons.... but to say about the ThunderHeader "it is the best performance header you can buy for the hd "... is simply wrong!
The attached dyno sheet has a baseline curve (blue) that had a ThunderHeader on a basically stock 88" build with high-flow filter & Power Commander and also has an "after build" curve (red) with the FatCat installed. Even on a stock motor, you can see the dip down low. As you build the motor up stronger, this exact "dip" characteristic becomes more and more pronounced.

I will agree though I'm sure the 2-1 Thunderheader isn't the best 2-1 out their. IMOP it sounds like though. I must of been the lucky one, becuse I don't have that dip your talking about down low. But mine is Carburetored not FI. Now with the True Dual Rineharts thats a different story , wow mine was terrible. We could not dyno tune that out. But with the 2-1 TH it's all good now.
