Are you referring to the case drain plug on the right (brake side0 case? Some have had sucess with JB weld on these cracks. Using a Dremel tool, they created a v-shaped groove along the crack and extending past the end of the crack. Cleaned and dried the groove and applied JB weld. What I would have to think about is whether to make the repair with the drain plug in or out; I can see up and down side to both. It is a pipe plug which is tapered and it you do the repair with the plug in place, the crack may be open a bit and you get deeper penetration with the JB weld. If you do it with the plug out, you may damage the repair when re-installing the drain plug.
If I was making the repair, I would prep the crack, apply some Loctite thread sealant to the drain plug and install being judicious with the torque applied to the drain plug. Then prepare the crack, let the JB weld cure per the instructions. Take the bike for a ride, get her hot and see the repair holds. If it does, forget that there is a case drain plug and never remove it again.
