Does HD still use the chain tensioner setup on the newer bikes? What was the last yr a early Dyna with spring set tensioners use too convert to hyd. setup I was told 09 was the last year I could use on my 05
The spring loaded tensioners were last used in the '06 models with the exception of the Dyna which had the upgraded cam plate/tensioners.
You can upgrade your '05 two ways.
1. The SE Hybrid conversion PN 25284-11 which will allow the use of your OEM type cams; see the attachment.
2. The full conversion to the OEM cam plate and hardware which will require the use of conversion cams. http://www.andrewsproducts.com/motor...nstall_Kit.htm
3. The conversion to the upgraded billet plate PN 25282-11 but you will also need the conversion cams and the rest of the hardware, i.e., tensioners, roller chains, spacers, etc. listed in the Andrews list.
I know of several bikes that got there cam chest from 07 & 08 bikes and have several thousand miles on them.I was wondering if a 09 cam chest would work,I know all about the overpriced -11 kit this would seem like a cost effective way that some of us low income riders could do.

Any later model OEM cam plate will work, you just need all the hardware and conversion cams.
