Default Engine light coming on FLHTPI 04

Hello and thank you in advance

I just purchased a used leased police Ed, 04 FLHTPI and the engine light started coming on. It comes on when I start the bike every time for about 2 to 4 seconds then goes out.

It seems to happen when I've been running a few hundred miles; I've put on over 4k in 44 days so I'm enjoying the bike.
It had its 1000 mile check late, due to a dealer not doing it.. I purchased it with 1052 on it. The 1000 mile check was performed at 2000 plus.
So it is due another oil change I’m sitting at 5120 right now.

I've checked the oil and its not burning any. I’ve been riding in LA and MS/AL and FLA so it been hotter then hell.

The engine light comes on when I've decelerated with throttle only. So I'm in 5th gear, and throttle back to 50 at 2k rpm the light comes on.
I have not done any mods to it, so standard pipes, stardard carb, just paint and seat. Zero stage one stuff.

If drop it to 4th, or speed up it goes off.

I've looked at the posts about checking the diagnostics can I use the full serial data bike post to see what it means? I'm going to put it in the shop next week for the 5k check up, should I just wait or is it safe (I don't want to delete the error so they can see it)

Side note for you Iu_booger...

Your picture didn't work because you used the page that CONTAINS the picture. If you go to that page, right click ON the picture, and then get the address of the picture itself, it will work. Put that address between the image tags and you will be good to go.

When you right click on the picture itself...select properties...then select the address.

Your picture is pretty big. Open your picture up on your desktop...(assuming that you are using some photo editing software here)...then do a search on resize...resize that sucker to 640x480 or so...

Then re-upload the picture and use that address...if you use the pic at that address, it will clobber the whole screen. The other option is to change the setting on your camera so that it doesn't take such HUGE pictures.

er's another one........04's are known for throwin' the "no combustion rear cylinder" code for no reason.
'04 engine lights

....I assume you already know you have a stored code and not an active problem?
