wrap
What are you expecting to gain from wrapping the pipes? Looks, better performance, covering up ugly chrome?
I wrapped the nasty old pipes on my Sloptail. The pipes were corroded, dinged, scratched, and just downright oogly. I like the looks, and ya ain't gotta polish the things.
Theory is that by insulating the pipes the exhaust gas temperature is kept higher, resulting in increased gas velocity. That would help the breathing, thus performance. In practice on a street bike, it probably doesn't make enough difference to notice.
For me, it was worth the time - didn't have to buy new pipes, don't have to polish existing pipes, look fits my style.

I wrapped my Samson ripsaws (2 1/4") with Thermo Tec graphite black wrap. I ordered 100' long x 2" wide and have enough to do 1 more pipe. It makes my NT look meaner. Performance wise I cannot tell a difference. I think it does help keep the temp of the pipes down. That is very important here in So. Florida. You can get it through J & P if you want to get ripped off, or E-bay if you want to save a few bucks or: http://speedzone24-7.com/SpeedZone24...nt-Catalog.htm if you want to save some $ also.
If you do decide to wrap them in the graphite black wrap be warned that the wrap has to cure and while it does this process it will smoke quite a bit. It takes a few laps around the block to cure it. It is kinda cool to look like you are on fire at a stop light....

I've heard comments that it keeps enough heat in to make the metal brittle and causes breakage, don't know how true it is, especially on these bikes the way they shake.
