Default SE adjustable pushrod question

I have a tick that I just can't figure out. I installed the pushrods with my cam install. I adjusted them to 15 flats originally as per the instructions. I went back and added 3 more flats as per advise of someone I know who has had to do that. Same prob. I am thinking of just pulling them and starting again. Any ideas?

Wouldn't hurt to start over. Make sure you have the piston at TDC ON THE COMPRESSION STROKE, adjust and wait until the lifters bleed down and you can spin the pushrods with your fingers. Move to the next cylinder. I don't know which pushrods you have but based on the TPI, set lifter preload at about .120"-.130".

How many mile on your OEM lifters? What year is the bike? What cams did you install? Some cams are just noisy; result of the profile.

How many threads per inch, are your pushrods?

I have an 07 Ultra with 24K miles. I am using the Screaming Eagle adjustable pushrods. They are 24 TPI. The directions said 2 1/2 turns which was suppose to take it down .100". I can always take it down a little more and see how it sounds. 18 flats should take it to .125". I had them in the neutral position when I adjusted them initially. The cam is an Andrews 48H. The power is great but the tick, even though light, is annoying to me.

Hope you can adjust it out, to your liking, with the push rods.

Often a high performance cam may create sounds a bit louder than stock.

I discovered oil additives (Lucas) quieted my metallic high pitched tick.
