I have been reading but have yet to find any posts on this....
I have an 05 ultra classic, I know the engine is happier at higher rpm's 25-3000 for cruising, but when I am forced to ride at low rpm's 18-2200 the bike seems to surge quite a bit, I have a PCIII dyno tuned, with a stage 1 download, and a stage 1 intake and S.E. -98B's, of course the Ultra is fuel injected. Is the surging is normal? I have had some folks say yes but they were not H-D Tech's.
Also I have had ocasional backfire when pulling in the clutch for both down or up shifts, it has gotten a little better since the Dyno run, if I have had a Dyno tune could this still be caused by the air fuel ratio? something else?
Also it backfires on occasion when trying to start the bike cold, any thoughts?
THe guy that dynoed the bike did he give you a air fuel sheet to look at?? if so what where the numbers?? you should be in the 13.5 range flat across. Also check for intake leaks, that as you have read here is a common item,
It is common to have a flat spot (lean area) after your first dyno. Take it back and have them check it out and I bet they will find a lean spot at the RPM you mentioned. I had the same problem at 1800-2000 RPM's at around 30 mph in 2nd and 3rd gear. They were able to work it out with a couple dyno runs and some minor adjustments.
