Just FYI, I have never gotten one to work properly on my '46. Either the light never comes on, the light never turns off, or the damn thing leaks. I chase it once every two years, then go back to having nothing. When you stop at a red light, take the oil tank cap off, if you are getting smoke/steam, she is circulating just fine. Wish I had a better answer, this works for me, I stopped worrying about it.

A 45 has the first of the later two part oil pumps one feeds one returns - its a 1929 idea and the r type before it
its not a car or even a late type lawn mower - its a crude often slow er then what was needed machine to ride - but its cool
the switch i posted to the right side is the only one that could work for the idea you have not being freaked about a oil light on - with out the screen its 1-1/2 pounds and it will blink when idling < i hope you read this last line
