Default Move or delete only part of thread?

Hey friends,

I started a thread in the EVO forum entitled Rinehart 2-1 with Mikuni 42 and part way in, I allowed it to get seriously hijacked.

At post 20 things get off track. I allowed JBaker421 to have a go at a signature pic for me and instead of using PMs or email or starting another sig thread in the Photoshop forum, we just kept right on.

I'd like to move posts 20 through 38 to a new sig thread or at the very least, delete posts 20 through 38 in order to salvage my original thread.

Any thoughts?

Don't let a thread get hijacked. If you cannot get it turned around, notify a Mod or Admin and we can try do it for you. There is no way to move part of a thread.

Help us help you. Copy and paste a link to the thread you are referring to so we can find it faster.

Post a message in the thread it is hijacked and needs to return to the origional topic. If that doesn't turn it, notify me and I will see if I can help turn it.

Oops...I planned on putting in a link earlier. My bad.

https://www.hdforums.com/m_1554603/tm.htm

I am the culprit. I hijacked my own thread. I'd like to delete posts 20 through 38 to clean up the thread so others will benefit from it. Of course I can't delete though.

Can someone do this for me?

I won't let it happen again. I promise.

I'm sorry but we don't do that. Your thread should survive as is or you can start a new thread and let this one die. There is too much work involved to move21 posts or whatever the count is. Each post has to be moved seperately.

Sorry,

Terry

I understand why a thread should remain as is, but this has nothing to do with the original posts and detracts others from reading through it.

If you or any other admin cannot or will not delete the posts that do not have anything to do with the thread, I'll go through and edit my own posts to delete their content and see if the other user will do the same.

Is this my only option?

If you and the other guy edit out all your posts you will just have 20 some blank posts to go through before getting to the meat of the subject. The trick is to either let it go or start a new thread. It's not that we don't edit threads, this one is just too time consuming.

I figured I could at least edit the first post to say the thread continues "here" and have a link to the next worthwhile thread.

Editing the posts would be time consuming as well...but I feel that it would be worth it as there is some valuable information in the beginning of the thread and once I get my bike running again I'll be adding to it.

I also feel that no one will add to the thread with all the garbage that it has in it now.

If you want the info in a spearate thread, YOU can start a new thread and the copy and paste each item you want in the thread. The key word here is YOU. The admins here have over 30,000 members to take care of andit becomes very time consuming to do the type of work you are requesting. If you do it, you can select the posts you want to include and ignore the ones you want left out. If you want to put it in the tech section because of the content, you can do that too.

Thanks for Posting here on HD Forums.
