Moderator Robb posted that is closed and may or may not re-open. Paraphrasing..."you may thank one of your own for taking it into the real world". Sad he didn't simply ban the person who wanted to do so with an admonishment but instead chose the 'Let's punish all for the actions of one'.
And don't spin me the bullshit of "private forum, their rules, blah blah"... I KNOW... but this is STILL how they cripple you - a small take-away here, a small take-away there... and you wake up one day and you have "hate crime" police bashing your door down for a silly Twitter post.
To be honest here - I think htere's more to this.
If something is "taken into the real world" then that becomes a police matter - harassment or assault. Nothing to do with the forum any more than a pub is at fault if a patron follows another hope and beats him up.
If think it was just an excuse used to kill off POD.

I joined this site a little over 8 years ago. Posted a bit and got busy with life. Started posting a bit more about a year or so back. One thing I have never seen is the mods or admin explaining decisions such as this. I know this is a private site and not a democracy...but still it would seem that pissing off a lot of experienced Harley enthusiasts by arbitrarily locking up their favorite forum. I don't know....just seems very silly and nearsighted.

Who wants to make odds that Wodan pays for a membership for unfettered access to the POD. It will become his personal soap box to bash America and Israel. Such fun.
I don't think it's got anything to do with money. There aren't really that many who post to the POD, so not much revenue. Banning bad players is easy enough to do. So, I don't really get the motive at all.

I'm having mixed feelings about it all. When Photobucket suddenly stopped supporting third party hosting it was very upsetting for so many people. I'm active in a couple of guitar forums and have technical expertise in that subject. Many of my threads on restoration projects, or modification projects were enjoyed by many and when suddenly they couldn't see the images it was upsetting. I refused to pay $300 just to host my images. After quite some time Photobucket offered additional packages and I ended up spending $100 basically so people could see they threads I had posted for the previous 10+ years.
In the HD forums I read much more than I post. I don't have the mechanical skill to join in technical conversations so I just read them. I post once in a while in the Softail forum but mostly if it has to do with a Rocker, and there aren't many of us on Rockers. I post in the QOTR, but again there aren't a lot of lady riders so that one isn't very busy. I do post in the Gun Enthusiast and PGR sections and once in a while in the General and Off Topic. I guess I'll see ya'll in that area.
For me, it's not the $25, it's how it went down. It doesn't feel very good. At first I thought I had ticked someone off and was given a "time out". But soon learned the news. I think I'll just wait a while and see how it goes. If rules were tightened up to stop some of the nasty disparaging that would be encouraging.

As this thread is in Forum Issues..... I have an issue or two.
First.... you should be able to press the name on a post, and put them on ignore without having to go through the process of typing there name in an ignore place.
Second .... when they are ON ignore, their OP threads disappear from the list.

THAT. DEATH BY 1000 PAPER CUTS. Funny how it takes a foreigner who has lived through the process to see it. This is not a free market issue. It's another example of a small portion of the internet being controlled by a left leaning globalist corporation. Yes, the vile in the POD was flung from both sides, but the POD leaned 80% to the right. Rather than shut down the offenders, the globalists chose to just silence the debate.

Maybe they got tired of the BS and didn't want their name associated with it anymore. If they told IB to clean it up or they were walking, well, they pay a mite more than $25 bucks a year.
That forum I wrote about earlier, that was why he fenced off his POD. It was either that or close up completely.
There are better ways to handle this. IB could have dropped the ban hammer on a dozen people and solved a lot of it. But you didn't want to police yourself, so now you have this. Maybe it's just IB's way of telling you to put your money where your mouth is...

So, laz said to go to post #240, which said a long standing member went to another site and confronted the Internet Brands executive of this action, and then said "End of Story". Then he said it wasn`t "me" or the troll in question.

Guess that leaves me out. Thank you anyway. Still haven't seen any confirmation that to enter the POD you must be a paying member. Link to this would be nice as I'm sure some would be willing to pony up, just not me.
