Smile Question re: Updating Thread Titles ###only for admin & mod###

Hello,

My question is: How do you update the thread title after the thread has been started? I searched the forum, but didn't' see an answer. I've visited my userCP to see if there was an option to update the titles of threads I've started, but didn't see anything there.

Specific Example:
A thread is posted in the classifieds titled 'Chrome footpegs and brake lever'. Days later, once the item has been sold, the title is changed to '***SOLD*** Chrome footpegs and brake lever'. How is this done?

Thanks

You can't edit title. Just edit the body. Put sold in reason for editing too.

I can't figure out how, but others are somehow able to do it. If you visit the classifieds section and read the first few pages of stuff for sale, you'll see several threads that have been updated to have "**SOLD**" before the rest of the text in the title.

Maybe it's just a classifieds thing?

Thread names come from the initial post.

How to change the thread title:

1. Go to the initial post in your thread.

2. Hit the edit button once to edit the text in the post, hit the edit button for a second time to edit the title. Now a new screen opens and you will be able to change the thread title.

3. Scroll down and hit Save changes.

4. Done!

FXD2003Rider;
Not quite,
That procedure will only change the title of the first post, not
the title of the thread if I'm not mistaken. In order to insert
"sold" in the title you have to get a hold of terry I think.

Before posting I tried it in the test area and it works for me. Could be because of my moderators profile. Please do me a favor and try it out in the test area and let me know the results....

TIA

Talked to Terry, should work...Here's his reply:

"No, you or they can do it but it's a little complicated. They have to hit "go advanced" after they hit "edit." Then they sometimes can just change it to what they want but sometimes it won't save it (I don't know why). If they delete the title and save it as something like "Title Change" it will save it. Then they can go back and save it to whatever they want. For some reason sometimes it won't let you just "add" to the title like "Sold" in the classified section.
