You have already posted once on the subject, and You were given a response......
If you choose to do a certain mod to unlock your bike, you will lose any warrenty claim to that new ignition switch....
IF ... you choose to attempt to do the mod that I can PM you with, the dealer is NO LONGER OBLIGATED to do a warrentable repair, as YOU will have opened a visibly sealed unit, and will know that you tampered with it.... That lets the Dealer and HD off the hook for repairing your bike, and you take it in the shorts....
I would have to say that between an 05' Clymer's Service Manual.A Harley dealer Mechanic on the Phone and some of the older postings of this forum I was able to get through it all.One thing that was different was the Harley Dealer said they would tow it. But their driver won't be back till next week. Why hasn't anybody else got their bike towed by the Harley Dealer?? Another Dealer didn't even mention it. Only that it needed a "custom made tool" for re-alignment of the ignition module. Though this information got me hung up on, I found out it was easier than I was making it out to be. Also if I had to do it all over again I would of been able to fix it out in the field provided I had my standardissueHarley Tools and the dealer would never know that it was worked on.But I did open up the Ignition switch. I'm thinking I didn't have to remove the broken pin, I just had to move the Ignition Switch around to free my locked fork up. It did have a security "star bolt" on it, and Ihad the tool at home so I proceeded to take broken lock pin out. A person can learn alot by doing their own work. I'm amazed at what I can do all the time. Especially whensomebody says it shouldn't be done. It just gave me enough momentum to get it done.
