Default Whirring noise from front end

I have 14,500 miles on my 2005 Springer Classic. At about 13,000 I noticed a whiring noise (almost a low whistle) coming from my front end. I notice it mostly when slowing down (and not using the brakes) from 50 mph to 10 mph (I think because of no wind or exhaust noise). The only thing I can come up with is its the brade pads on the rotor. I have read all the posts on here and the ones mentioning this noise point to that problem. Are there any other possible reasons for this kind of nosie? Also it seems to disappear when I accelerate. I will be taking the bike in week after next for the 15,000 mile service so I wanted to be able to make sure all possible problems could be addressed. Thanks!

Change or repack the wheel bearings.

I believe the bearings are sealed so they cant be repacked but may need replacing...kind of premature ??

Pretty much only the two places previously mentioned. I'm betting a warped rotor. Obviously the sound doesn't goaway. It just either gets drowned out or due to speed attains a higher frequency not detectable by your ears.

In any event make sure this is addressed as a priority safety issue.

Also forgot to mention that with a little extra weight on the rear end, I do get a wobble as a slow to a stop if I have one hand on the bars. I first thought it was the weight but then I hadn't felt this until after 10,000. Sounds like the steering may need tightening too? All kinds of fun! I'll make sure they check all of it out.....

I have had warped rotors in a car before and could certainly tell when braking. In this case, braking doesn't seem to be a problem, and I will have to check but I think I hear the noise when I apply the brakes too which might mean something other than the rotor....so much for my investigation skills!

No, No, No, if you have warped rotors on a bike, it acts as if you have no brakes until you pump the brake. It's just the pads running on the rotor. This is normal, all bikes do it. some pads are less noise than others. Sintered are ones that give a little more noise.

Okay pardon my Aggieness......do have one question....what would cause the outside pad to wear uneven but the inside pad to wear correctly? I assume they turn rotors on a bike just as they do cars? Just asking some stupid questions.......
