Default 2005 Ultra suspension question

My 2005 Ultra has 61,000 miles on it. No leaks in the air suspension. My dealer tech says no need to replace unless / until they leak. Do these wear out? If so, what is general recommendation on Progressive replacement parts -- the 444's? And finally, are they do-it-yourself level of repair/replacement parts for these bikes?

Thanks in advance for feedback. I'll check back in a while.

I have a 2006 Ultra and I'm gonna replace the shocks, NG or not. Also going to upgrade the fork springs to Progressive mono tubes. Currently looking at the Progressive 944's. From what I have been reading on here and other sites, it will feel like a completely different machine.

I'm not wanting to go with an external reservoir on the 944's nor the $900 price tag on the shocks.

Anyone with information on my initial inquiries? Responses appreciated.

All shocks wear out.

Added to that the stock ones give a poor ride from new, so many of us swap them. If you ride solo then many aftermarket shocks will give an improved ride over stock ones. If you ride 2-up a lot, then invest in top quality shocks for a happy ride and life!

Call in the Touring forum, where you will find plenty about Progressive shocks.

Thanks -- I'll check it out there. (Thought it appropriate to start in the "Suspension" sub-forum....)

That makes sense, but not many members visit this area, unfortunately.

944's do not have an external tank. You are thinking about the 970's. You should be able to find the 944's for $515 on Fleabay.
