Greetings from sunny Florida, where tomorrow's high temp is going to be in the 80's!
Sorry, I had to let that out, I haven't talked to any if my Yankee kinfolk in a while.
I would like to find out what paint work is going for; from simple color scheme changes to custom graphics or airbrush work. I'm about ready for a paint job and would like an idea if what I should be budgeting for.
Any pictures to go along with costs and where if in the southeast you had the work done would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Reason: Meant to say "of" not "if"!
My roommate just purchased a new paint job to his specifications off ebay for $850. Of course he has to take the tins off himself and ship them out. I spent $650 on a custom paint job I found off ebay about 6 years ago. I've never had a problem with the paint job, no peals or bubbles since I got it done. In fact the guy who did it fixed a big dent on my gas tank caused by an accident (which I used the insurance money to re-paint it!).
Locally you'll be looking at between a grand or two.

Custom paint will probably be a grand or two without any special air brushing. Tack on another grand to 1500 for that. And that's if you remove the tins yourself. Tack on even more if you want them to remove the tins, or send you a complete set of painted tins with you also keeping the originals. It can get expensive. One of the reasons I haven't done it yet.
Now all that is assuming you're not letting your neighbor do it in his garage. True talent is costly.
Yeah when I owned a body shop,I used to love the guys that would come in for a paint job in April. They want a perfect job,and you know they"ll be breathing down your neck till you get it done.
Why don't you find a local shop who's work you like, and ask them what it costs?---- from Sunn yIllinois where it will get up to abut 25f tomorrow!
Painting a car and painting bike parts are 2 very different things, what is acceptable on a fender will look like sh*t on a gas tank.
And bike parts don't take kindly to low end primers, base coats or clears.... it has to be top shelf materials in the hands of someone who paints bike parts.
Bike parts are also labor intensive, much more so than a bedside on a F150.
This guy does some of the best AFFORDABLE work I have ever seen, he works on all bikes (not a snob) and stands behind his work ( not that he has to because I have never seen a problem in his work and I have seen dozens of his paint jobs)
I am a pretty good painter, and I used to do a lot of bikes back in my prime.. last bike part I shot was the front fender on my 03 in 2006.... I send all my stuff to BD's now

Had my StreetGlide painted. Fairing, side covers, engine heat deflectors, and saddlebags. Firey flames, Phoenix graphics, and hidden skulls. Total cost about $3200. Has held up pretty good with about 40k miles down the slabs. Pic here not the best.
In Ca, painting a car costs $500 per panel, not including body work. Typical car has 9 panels, or $4500.
But I had my BMW painted (plastic off) for $400. The key is finding a painter who can use his employers equipment on the weekend when the shop is closed. Cash under the table of course.
