It's always a thrill to spot a bald eagle. Awesome to look at. Haven't seen a ton in my life, but saw a fair number of them since moving to North Shore MA a number of years ago. Sightings have been scarce(for me) in the past 5-7 years though. I saw one on my cross country trip this past summer. It was somewhere in Michigan, possibly in the Upper Peninsula. Caught it with my iphone and the quality is poor, but still a thrill for me, nonetheless.
They are few and far between here in Southern Ontario, but there is a rare one around.
Just don't mess with them too much. I would imagine that they can be vicious. This is a Golden Eagle, but I would imagine not much difference in size to a Bald Eagle?
I have spend years trying to see one in the wild in flight. Even went to Alaska but the two that I saw were just sitting on their asses. Then one day I sitting in my back yard when I hear the screech right over my head. luckily I take my camera everywhere with me, even if I am only going in the back yard.
Recently saw a golden by work but the picture didn't turn out well.
We get them here in southern Manitoba in the spring and fall when they are migrating and it is nice to see. Goldens nest in this area though - they seem to prefer a little warmer temps than the Bald and don't go as far north.
When I bought my house in '97, there was a pair of Goldens nesting in the windbreak behind my property and I loved to sit out on my back porch with a coffee in the evening and watch them hunting mice in my back field. The call of the eagle still gives me goose-bumps! Unfortunately foxes moved in about 10 years ago and cleared out the small game so the eagles stopped nesting here. About 5 years ago we cleaned out the foxes and there are a couple of pairs of eagles nesting in the area again but they didn't come back to my back field

From the Union Bridge area in Carroll County, Md. Out for a ride last year cruising down Bark Hill Rd and look up and happened to see one. We pulled over to check it out for a few minutes.
Very rare to see in my area but I am told if you get around the Chesapeake Bay area it's becoming a more common occurrence. I see a lot of red tail hawks and a few owls.

I believe the Golden's are the only eagles bigger then a Bald. When I got the picture I posted above I didn't know there was a eagle bigger. But when I saw a bird that looked to be towering over this bald eagle a couple inches I had to look it up and found out about the golden. If you look close in my pic above you can see the bald and there's definitely a size difference.
