Well there is such a thing, but this wasn't an example of one.
An accident is something that happens that couldn't have reasonably been avoided. Like, a tree falling on a car killing the occupants. That's an accident.
This was no accident. She caused it because of her absurdly bad judgment.
That was my point. There are legit accidents, that is caused by one or more party not driving/riding/walking etc with perfect care, or like you described.
This is NOT one of those situations. We are all on the same page.
I saw this this morning, that report said 440 was closed for 5 hours to clean up the area and investigate. She should have been made to clean the site. Condolences to the family.
It would perhaps be more accurate to say that her crimes warrant a similarly severe penalty...by definition, this is not first degree murder. However, I would be interested to know what are the possible penalties for the crimes she is charged with...death by motor vehicle and so forth. Anyone know how N.C. law treats this sort of thing?
They seem to have thrown the book at her, but I'm sorry to say, I tend to agree this will result in an overly lenient punishment.
In my opinion, driving/riding while intoxicated is a willful disregard for human life.

I'm sure the first words out of the drunk bitch's mouth was: "I didn't see him." I hope she gets a nice long stretch in state prison. It won't bring the motorcyclist back, but it will give her some time to reflect on what she's done, and all the lives it affected.
According to the TV news last night, she talked to a witness, couldn't find the biker, assumed that he'd 'run off somewhere', and left the scene shortly thereafter. He apparently was dying on the adjacent Interstate ramp in the dark.

When ran over at 115mph there is no dying process, nothing short of a miracle your instantly dead.
23 yrs old and no personal responsibility? Judging by her stereotypical mug shot, she was raised by absentee parents and as a runaway/HS school dropout, she sought love at 16. An endless string of looser relationships with children culminated with "driving under the influence of drama" charges. Of course she will get probation, who is going to take care of her kids with disappearing fathers?

Amazing observation!
Mug shot mentalist.
Put her children in custody of the state.
If she wasn't worried about them why should anyone else be?
