Default V&h fp3

For anyone interested......

I just replaced the Fuel Pak on my 2011 Fatboy with the new V&H FP3, and I'm very pleased!

Rather than having something always inserted between the bike and the ECM, it re-flashes with required settings.

I took the old FO out, connected the FP3 to the CAN bus, and then using the free app on my phone, blue-tooth connected to the FP3. You use the menu driven app to get the correct map, and then the appropriate settings are flashed into the ECM.

That's cool enough, but then it also has an auto-tune feature. Left connected to the bike, you just ride under varying conditions and speed until an easy to understand display says that all info required has been collected, then tell it to adjust the map and re-flash. No dyno needed.

I haven't done the auto-tune yet because though I ride year round, I don't in snow and ice and we just had a winter storm Monday night.

You can also monitor all sort of engine statistics via the phone while riding (assuming the phone is mounted, of course!).

It can't be used (yet) for tuning with cam changes, but I got the impression that it may be in the future. It is upgradable, the first thing it did was update itself to the latest firmware when I got every connected and turned on.

Like other tuners that re-flash, this one also marries to the bike with the first flash, which is understandable for these devices.

Best part.... $350.

So far I think it's a winner!

I'm a newbie to scoots and I didnt trust myself with a FP3 even though I hear it's pretty easy. I went with the SE tuner and had to have the dealer tune it. My dealer isn't that good of a tune guy I'm pretty sure because my bike is a tad out of tune still. My buddies is too lol
If I wanted to switch to the FP3 would it be ok even though my bike is already semi tuned with a SERT?

I believe v&h is releasing maps for popular cams for the customers that request it. i have an fp3 on my bike as well and loved how easy it was to use. I'm not sure if I trust it for my future cam swap though.

I've been very happy with the FP3 and the regular firmware updates. I am one of those that changed cams and the guys in the electronics division of V&H supplied me with a map to the specs of the cams, which in my limited rides of about 80 total miles so far have been better than my previous tune. You can of course auto tune the new map as well.

People enjoy bantering about which tuner is best and I don't think there are any perfect answers but it's nice to have choices. Here is a post from another thread that I made along with a link to the thread itself which lists many of the new features recently released:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...-features.html

"...All of the above are great tuners, and all of them had first, second, and probably third iterations before getting to where they are now and even then they keep updating. I don't think anyone will give up their current flash based tuner to buy an FP3, or change their PV2 for a TTS, etc. But I think what we're seeing is a continuance of making the product better and a thinning of the line between features when deciding which tuner is right for the individual. I personally can't believe the changes made to the firmware in the last 6 months alone.

This morning I hooked up my FP3 to take a look at the updates, only 27 degrees out so I didn't go riding. In fact I don't attach my screen (phone) to the bike generally so I've never really used the "view data" screen on my FP3 (although I just ordered a carrier just in case). As a result I've never looked at how to change the view but when I clicked it on today I didn't see the new readings so had to figure out how to manipulate the display. Very cool as the screenshots below show:

Here are pics of the phone with new carrier. I don't know that I'll ever ride with it attached but who knows.
