I was bored so I went for a ride today to the local HD dealer. They actually had a nice RoadKing at the front door to sell with some nice extras on it bringing it to $33k. I showed the dealer my bike to ask about a trade in for ***** and giggles. Trust me I am not new to bikes. I have ridden since I was a boy and 4 members of my family have worked at the Milwaukee HD plant over 90 years combined. I pretty much knew what he was going to say but I had to ask. He said he would give me $15k for my 13 Deluxe with 10k miles on it.. I said that's not bad since I paid 18.5k for it new. He thought right there he had a deal. Then I told him my offer. I said since your not giving me anything for my extras on my bike ($15k worth) then I am not giving you any $ for your extras. I said so its a deal for 3k cash out the door? He just sat there with a dumb look on his face. I said that's what I thought. Have a good day. Bye LOL made my day to leave him standing there.
For some reason it seems bikes cost more in FL then were I like in Pa. I have a lot of friends in FL. from Pa. They always come back to but a new bike in Pa. to get a better deal. On the other hand used seem to be less.
where's it going to end? harley keeps jacking the price up every year and it's getting to the point where a working man will not be able to affoed a new bike anylonger. 0n top of it all they keep making them out of cheaper and cheaper parts.

It's not just harley. The new 600 supersport bikes are in the $11,000 range now. The 1000 cc superbikes are $15,000 plus. That is part of the reason I decided it was time for a Harley. I had always felt the Harley's were a bit expensive, but now that other "normal" bikes cost the same, why not get a Harley.
Your $15,000 worth of extras are worth little to nothing at time of trade or sale. Mods are for you, not the next owner.
I was waiting for this tired old response from a retired salesman attitude. Then by what your saying I should feel the exact same way about the mods the dealer did to the Road King in question no? Why should I pay him for his mods when he wont pay me for mine? Are my aftermarket or even HD parts I bought right from that same dealer now no good or junk that no human in the world would want? Its bullshit is what it is and if you keep letting them get away with it they will. Funny thing..I wasnt off my bike 1 minute and had 3-4 guys over talking to me about how much they liked my bike. So its not like I put it together wrong or its a pos or something. If we stop buying HD aftermarket parts to mod our bikes and make them our own they will get the picture. But we all know people wont do that now will they. Im not mad, I just see the bullshit for what it is and am laughing at how people put up with that tired old take it in the *** mentality.
