I agree with you abt the crowds. After going there year after year after year for both Bike Week & Octoberfest, most of the time in a group, now all I do is this if I go at all...........
1) I ride north of Daytona (since I live way south of Daytona) to Holly Hill.
2) I head east to Federal Hwy.
3) Then ride south to Cocoa Beach or further south on Federal.
Of course (I do not) but you can stop anywhere along the way if you see fit or what I do is ride south to at least Cocoa Beach. Often further south.
Then west to I-95 back home.
It gives me a GOOD ride, I get the feel of the event with bikers all around which is REALLY NICE, virtually no bog downs at all. A bit busy on Federal but no worries, all bikers and it is FUN.
Not to "guild the lily" but you can do it in the middle of the week or weekend if u want to fine tune the volume of bikers that are likely to be there. Figuring more people will be there during the weekend I would guess.
I just live over in Gainesville, so it's only like an hour and a half away. I still only did 240 miles with the trip, including all the riding around I did during the day. I rarely go to these things, it's just not my kind of deal.
