There are thousands of pristine garage queens out there.
If you gotta buy new, then buy new. But if you're worried about the money or getting a "good deal", there are plenty of fabulous used bikes available for 35 cents on the dollar (or less) compared to new.
Are you just asking if they will take a discount. If so then sure they won't just give a lower price for someone to still think about.
What works is to have a fair number like one to two thousand off. They more than make most of that back on their ridiculous fees. Then make a firm offer of cash. Have your loan already to go at a bank or credit union or even cash.
I have never lost a deal with a cash offer but under msrp.
However as already posted some of the late model low mile trade ins are a very smart way to go.
I have always gotten the best deals on used bikes. There are tons of used Fatboys here in New Orleans and I know there are just as many in Houston. The dealer will negotiate on those used bikes! Picked up my 2013 Breakout a few months ago with 2400 miles for $15000. By the way, I went in looking for a Fatboy
Those that are willing to walk into an HD dealer and pay list price, plus the inflated setup and shipping charges aren't very smart. Setup and Freight probably have a 50% profit and most dealers will throw those charges out. That alone is almost a $1000.
Bottom line, if you don't fight for every dollar, you're just throwing money away. Pay full list and as soon as you drive that bike out the door, you're way under water.
With that said, a barely used bike is the best deal out there. Harley's don't hold their value for **** anymore and there are so many people that bought one and never rode it, just looking to dump it.
There is a 2014 Fat Boy Lo for $15,990 and a 2011 Fat Boy for $14,990 at Cajun Harley Davidson in Scott Louisiana which is just outside of Lafayette. They have good service and usually are flexible on used bike prices.
My dad has his Road King with an enclosed trailer for sale which I posted in the classifieds.
