Default Concerned Rider

Hi fellow riders...

Have a few things I want to get the forums take.

I purchased a NEW VRSCF BRos Muscle last year. While driving down the interstate the pin that holds the rear break in place fell off. This as you know could have ejected me from the bike if it cought while making a sharp right turn.

Brought it back to dealer to my surprise thought it was not a big deal. That was 10 miles on bike.

Fast forward 2500 miles later and shift lever fall off while on interstate again.

Went to dealer who said, it's been a year. I said really! If nothing else, a review of the builder is in order.

Anyone have any comments on said situation, would love to hear.

Cheers.

Paul

+1. If it the stuff fell off within the first couple of rides I'd be concerned with the dealer. After a couple 1000 miles stuff like shifter bolts can rattle loose. It's to your benefit to go over you bike at the beginning of the riding season. to make sure the simple stuff is still connected well.

Three words = "pre ride checks."

Good practice and preventative step + monthly clean/check/tighten party.

These two things pay-off in many ways.

Since Harley's vibrate, more stuff is likely to loosen. So it pay to check and re/pre check.

Not to hijack the OP's post; but what should I be checking monthly on my 2011 RG? Are there pieces that are prone to vibrate loose that I should be checking?

Thanks

The above advice holds for ANY bike and/or model, no matter if it`s a Harley or Honda.

Consider it like a pre-flight, grab and touch and look at things that move and twist. Check the oil and air, all this easy to do while wiping the bike down.
No motorcycle is built like a Toyota Camry.

Excellent question, havagaspiping...

Will certainly be more vigilant on per ride checklist.
