First off I want to give props to fskitch for solving this problem. Then I want to comment on the "noise created" Scaredofrain mentioned. The solution to them making a sound like a horn is fixed by running a small line between the two pieces of PVC to relieve the pressure. This is a common fix for the drone sound some mufflers make on cars.

Sorry--good catch. I edited my post to include ľ" PVC.
On my wifes sportster I added 2" "mending plates" to arch the top of the windshield forward so the buffeting air goes above her head. I had the same set up on my dyna and it was very effective. I changed my front end to accept road king hardware and a softail shield so the quick connect hardware went away on my bike. So plan B (PVC) went into effect. You may want to give the mending plates a try-available near the gate hinge area of your local hardware.

Not cut and positioned like that. You should study a bit about horns/wind instruments/etc before making off hand judgement.
Heck all you have to do is play in a child's jug band to know sound is made blowing across a hole not into it.

Briliant. Now all I have to do, to avoid a natural occurring phenomena of wind, while riding,is cobble some shithouse plumbing to my motor. Thus eliminating that pesky air flow that clears the mind. Is this the Prius forum?

I work with harmonica type hose a lot and use it as conduit for cabling and such. When using an industrial vacuum cleaner to pull a draw string through it creates a high pitched noise that is deafening. So my "off-hand" remark is not that far fetched. I do not play in a children's jug band like you seem to do and do not have a master's degree in wind instruments as you seem to have.
I do however have a tendency to voice concerns if I see a potential problem that a forum member may set himself up for.
Next time I shall refrain from comments until Professor JohnMn, the Forums Oracle has spoken.
