I do now and then, but very rare. When I do it is because a) my hips hurt a ton and getting off the bike is more painful that staying on it, of b) I am in a hurry.

Typically I want to get up and stretch out though. Plus I don't see it as the safest thing to do, plus should I happen the some how spill gas on the boys... not good.

Just a thought what if the pump doesn't click off when the bike is full? You will have a situation with a lap full of gasoline and the flammable liquid running down on a hot engine.
What states are these, I've never heard such a thing. I either sit on or straddle my bikes while filling them depending on the bike I'm riding. Some say they get off theirs because they want a break from sitting, After I'm done filling my bike, I fire it up then pull away from the pumps and pull up to the store and take my break there so as not to block the use of the pump from another vehicle. A couple of things when filling a bike, NEVER use the auto shut off latch while filling the bike, chances are you'l get gas splashed out of the tank because it doesn't turn off soon enough. I also never fully squeeze the lever while filling for the same reason. I've always filled my bikes this way and never had any problems

Some places in the UK want you to get off, but most are more concerned about you removing your helmet in case you're a thief. Here in the Isle of Man nobody cares much - too used to bikes, and anyway where are you going to go if you ride off without paying! We pay after pumping...
In the UK, aren't the handlebars on the opposite side of the bike?

Damn .... That makes way too much sense Dawg. :>) ... I still can't grasp the "lazy aspect" in regards to sitting on the scooter. To me it's just so much easier. Stick the credit card in fill the tank, scoot out of the way, hit the can ( if necessary ) and "get your motor runnin' "

Pull in on the right side of pump, lean on kickstand, remove cap. Insert card in slot, key in credentials, grab pump handle, insert nozell in tank. Fill up. All while sitting. If I got to pee or get refreshment, I then ride to spot away from pump. It's rude to leave your vehicle in front of pump after you are done.

Actually it's only 6 pages, depending on your settings. But if you think this is impressive, you should research some of the old oil threads.

I'll take your word on that. I belong to a boating website and weight, brand, frequency to change and type of oils apparently is a universal topic for endless discussions, regardless of the vehicle. None are bad, just entertaining at times, and sometimes you come across good info. So its always good.
