I'm a new rider (3 mos). I was sitting on the bike for fill ups until reading a thread a few weeks ago, where someone posted a vid of a guy going up in flames while doing that.
I did have one incident where I was topping off and the nozzle had 2 options, Off, and Full Blast. Not fun! I can get another couple tenths of a gallon in the tank when straight up compared to leaning on the side stand, but it's a small price to pay to prevent my ********* from becoming S'mores.
Oregon won't let you pump either. They are the only two states. Oregon makes exception for motorcycles, but attendant has to start pump and hand you the nozzle.
