I've never sat while filling the gas tank, once more I don't recall ever seeing anyone do it either. Before you ask I place the gas cap face down on top of the pump after getting paper towel for it to rest on - don't want junk dropping into the tank. 😗
Or smart enough [OR TOO LAZY] to get off the bike when fueling.
AND in TR area the geezers will run ya over fast. I get off so I can run when they mistake the gas pedal for the brake.
Happens often in the land of the newly wed and the nearly dead.
Saw this statement in another thread and thought it would make for a good survey: (did a quick search and didn't find a similar thread)
"I was filling up the my bike while still sitting on the bike!??!?! Pretty sure that is how most of us do it, and for sure how I do it all the time, all over the world (literally)."
So, how many of you fill up while sitting on the bike? I for one have never done it. After two or three hours on the bike I'm always ready to get off and stretch a bit. Also, much easier to get to the wallet, stick credit card into pump, and go to the bathroom.
Not ever a good idea, the best reason is for safety. Example: if some fool walks or drives by and flips a cigarette near you, how fast do you think you could leave that bike while straddled behind a flaming gas tank?

If I wore those in that manner it would look like bulldog jowls waving in the breeze.

For the first time in my life, I saw a rider sitting on his bike last Sunday, while getting gas. His passenger didn't even get off. I still won't try it.
That's just too lazy for me. Part of the reason for stopping for gas on a trip is to stretch my legs. It's already difficult for me to stay seated for long periods of time. I wish they made motorcycles like jet skis so I could stand on them instead of sit.
Really though? Are people THAT lazy where they can't even stand up for 3 minutes to pump their gas?
Get off their bike at night and get on their HoverRound powered personal mobile device and wheel themselves in from the garage and get off the HoverRound and plop on the couch?
Lazy???
When you're all bundled up in heated and rain gear, it can be difficult for the rider and passenger to get on and off the bike. Not everyone has to stretch. Don't judge and label people with an offensive term. I almost never get off the bike for gas. Only if we need to eat or pee.
