I just unplug mine and leave everything on while fueling

At least for me it has nothing to do with being lazy, it's about being efficient when fueling. Sitting on the bike I don't have to be choosy which premium pump I can use, I can come in from either direction and fill from either side, right or left handed, it's not hard to do. With the bike held upright, jiffy stand up I can fill the tank to a consistent level each time and if you've got the ability to ride a motorcycle you should certainly have the finesse required to fill a motorcycle tank while sitting on the bike, it's not some sort of Cirque du Soleil acrobatic maneuver

But lazy? No, I'm still going to re-position the bike, put the jiffy down, get off the bike and go inside to pay cash... I never use the pay at the pump, too damn many scams and card skimming goes on in this area to consider that.

The most dangerous thing about fueling while sitting on your bike? Using your plastic to pay for fuel

I love that this debate is still going on..............

When I leave for Laconia on Saturday, I am going to get off the bike and have my wife fill it up, while standing on the right side!?!? Just sayin'

I personallyget off my bike, jiffy down, fill to where the fuel is level with the opening without losing any down the overflow.

Just wondering, when you guys stay on your bike and fill it to top, when you put it on the jiffy stand don't you have some going out the overflow?

It never gets put on the stand. Put it in gear, roll back onto the highway and burn it up.

I have found it easiest to stay seated while filling up. While seated I'm able to see in the tank easier so I know when to stop, never let the rubber from the nozzle touch the tank! If the top of the pump is clean the gas cap goes there and if it isn't then the cap goes on the right side foot rest.

I always fill up when seated and since I am right handed, I always have the pump on my right side. I also pump the gas when straddling the bike so the Harley is upright and I can see into the tank. I have been doing it this way for five years and have yet to spill as much as a drop on the tank. It's all in the control of the nozzle and keeping track of the fuel level in the tank.
