In my 50 years of riding, I have gotten off the bike every time I have ever filled up.

I am with he majority here - always get off the bike when getting fuel.

On a "forced" course I had to do here to get my licence for here, someone asked the same question. One of the girls on the course said (jokingly I would hope) that for a female, sitting on the bike while re fueling could result in a "fire in the hole" situation ....

I'll only get off the bike if I need to pay in store or just been riding tank to tank and need a break. I don't understand how people manage to miss the massive great hole in the tank when pumping gas. I've never spilt a drop. What's wrong with you people? I've got this image in my head:

Now if there was an H in the title, that would really be something.

its like everything else do it the way you want to do it just accept responsibility for you own actions.

I personally am not comfortable sitting on the bike while fueling but that's me. One distraction and you could have a bad day with your ***** irritating the hell out of you or worse "great ***** of fire" lol

I don't get off the bike unless there is a reason to.

Pull in with pump on my left.
Don't bother putting the kickstand down.
Stand straddling the bike.
Fill.
Leave.

Guys here worried about getting a little gas on their junk...meanwhile

You are 37 times more likely to die in a motorcycle accident than in a car crash

I am old enough to remember when the gas station attendant would be smoking a butt while filling you up. ( before you told him if he spills gas on the tank he is dead )

They do let you do it yourself if you are on a bike. Hell... one guy told me he won't pump gas if it's a Harley. Said guys on crotch rockets won't kick his @$$ if he spills gas on them....LOL

Oh and I dismount. Never even crossed my mind to stay on during. I'm usually ready to stand for a bit and kinda hard to get my wallet.
