I have a 95 flhtc with 95000 mi. It had upper end at 84000 mi with 20 over pistons. When I rode it yesterday, and again today, the dip stick would pop out when it was ridden at 65 or 70 mph. Does anyone know what causes this? If it was ridden at 55 to 60 mph everything seemed to be ok.
Bill
Stick your nose down close to the hole where the dipstick goes and see if you smell gas and or exhaust if you can, you may have jugs too big, or pistons too small. Either way you might have an excuse to go with a 98 CI bigger bore kit.
Two things could be here the crankcase breather system isn't working and there's too much case pressure or you're getting all kinda blowby on the rings all of a sudden for some reason, bike start running any different suddenly like loss of power or feeling really loaded down or smoking out the pipes ?
thanks guys. The bike runs fine and has plenty of power. I am going to order a new dip stick just to see if the old one is worn out. I am also going to get new intake gaskets in case these are leaking and not enough flow is coming from breather.
Judging from the title of the thread and your username I thought this was going to be about some 12 step program. I know my dipstick can be a pain to get out. Is yours on the loose side I presume? Can't think of any other reason you would order another if not the case.

Intake leaks have nothing to do with excessive back pressure build up and you having to get up into the higher rpm range when it pop's is a sign of that happening, keep looking I doubt just the dipstick is the issue.
